Swimming Pool Heat Pumps
By ProMatcher Staff
Heating a Pool with a Heat Pump
Heat pumps can also be used to heat swimming pools. They are cheaper to operate than natural gas and propane pool heaters. They can also heat much faster than solar pool heaters.
These heat pumps will not work as effectively when the outdoor temperature drops. As a result, they are very popular in warmer climates and they can heat the pool year-round. Heat pumps are becoming more popular in colder climates, but they are only work well during the warm, summer months. Although these heat pumps cannot heat a pool quite as quickly as a gas heater, adding a pool cover or solar blanket can dramatically increase the heat pumps functionality.
Sizing a Pool Heat Pump
Sizing a pool heat pump depends on a number of factors. For example:
- Square footage and depth of the pool
- Weather and climate
- Free Quotes from Heat Pump Contractors
- Desired temperature
- If pool is covered
- Amount of sunlight
